The Foveon X3-Direct-Image-Sensor in these cameras works like a slide film, using three layers of pixels and thus works very well for panoramic photography.
The sensor records light like a conventional slide film and produces extremely sharp images. Especially in Landscape photography, it delivers images that do not show the »digital look« other cameras provide.
